Audrey Hepburn exuded grace, and elegance, with a style all her own. She was born in 1929 in Brussels, Belgium. Named Audrey Hepburn-Ruston, her father was a banker, and her mother was a Baroness of Dutch Aristocracy.

While growing up during the war Audrey studied ballet, and used her talent in secret productions to raise money for the Dutch resistance. She risked her life, and delivered messages for the resistance as well. Later she worked doing small parts on stage and at whatever film parts she could get. Then in 1952 the French novelist Collette was so taken with Audrey, that she wanted Audrey for the lead role in the Broadway show of her novel called, “Gigi.” That was the beginning of her being launched into worldwide fame, and a career that would make her known as one of the most famous, and loved actresses of all time.

“I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and… I believe in miracles.”-Audrey Hepburn

Audrey went on to win numerous awards, she was one of the few actresses to win a Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Academy Award, and Theater World Award. What many remember her best for is her huge heart, bubbling over with compassion. Also the love that she shared with impoverished people during her humanitarian work with UNICEF. Again Audrey excelled at her work, and became a Good Will Ambassador for UNICEF, and was later awarded The Presidential Medal Of Freedom.

“Good things aren’t supposed to just fall into your lap. God is very generous, but He expects you to do your part first.”-Audrey Hepburn

The world lost a great woman on January 20, 1993, when Audrey died in her sleep from cancer, at the age of 63. Because of the person Audrey was she left this world a better place. She is forever remembered by adoring fans as a compassionate, loving woman, who was beautiful inside and out.
