Patrick Hughes is such an inspiration to anyone who is struggling in life! A musical prodigy, Patrick was born with two conditions that are almost never seen together called, Ptergium Syndrome, and Bilateral Anopthamia. That resulted in him being born without eyes, and a tightening of his joints that stops his limbs from being able to straighten, leaving him cripple. In the beginning his father, and mother, were devastated thinking of the things he wouldn’t be able to do. Until one day at 9 months old when they set him in front of a piano, and discovered his awesome gift for music!
Being wonderful parents they realized God had a different plan for Patrick. They encouraged Patrick to do what he excelled at, supporting, and participating with him in all of it. Excel is an under statement, by two years old this little musical genius could play requests, and he just kept honing his gifts as he grew up!
Patrick later went on with his dad’s help to play the trumpet in the Louisville Marching Band. His family’s support especially his father’s is a beautiful thing to watch, with such devotion, and family love they conquer their challenges together. Patrick has also written a book, and has been invited to play at the Grand Ole Opry, with such famous musicians as, Pam Tillis, Lonestar, Faith Hill, and a host of others.
When asked about his disabilities Patrick has such a positive, no-nonsense attitude, and has wonderfully stated:
“God made me blind, and unable to walk, Big Deal! He gave me the ability, and musical gifts I have, and great opportunity to meet new people. I can do anything I set my mind to!”-Patrick Hughes
