I loved the movie Cool Runnings, and until now I had never seen the real Jamaican Bobsled Team. Everybody loves when someone triumphs against all odds. A country with no snow entering into the Olympics with a bobsled team to the world was ludicrous. Talk about a fish out of water! The world just could not conceive the idea of a Jamaican bobsled team, they thought it was impossible, and ridiculous.
Going into the Olympics as the ultimate underdog they were not expected to do well. With a lot of training they managed to climb into 13th position, then 11th. Then they hit the wall, and eventually tipped over skidding a long way. The world held their breath, then gasped at the site of that accident, but they all courageously showed the world what they were made of, dusted themselves off, and crossed the finish line.
They did not win, but they certainly showed the world their indomitable spirits. They went into the Olympics laughed at, and underestimated, but they wiped the smirks away, and left as legends, with the respect, and heart’s of the world.
