Equality! It seems more often lately men have been getting stereotyped, discriminated against, and picked on, and it is not alright. There is such a thing as toxic feminism and it is just as bad as male chauvinism. Toxic feminism promotes criticism of masculinity, man-hating, and entitlement simply because of gender. It is time we recognized that mindset in itself is discriminatory. REAL Human Rights should strive for fairness while embracing and appreciating the different gifts and abilities between the sexes! Us women don’t like being marginalized or treated unequally and we all know the compounding of two wrongs doesn’t make something right. So why would we as a society tolerate it being reversed and done to men? An example of what I am talking about is perfectly illustrated in Gillette ‘s video called, ” We believe: The Best Men Can Be”. The video portrays men as having toxic masculinity, what it really depicts is reverse discrimination and it is not going to make our society a fairer or better place! Positive change in society begins with our becoming aware all of our attitudes and values. We all rise by helping lift each other up. Men and women have different biological and emotional characteristics and we should feel free to be ourselves. Do certain behaviors need to be addressed in society? Of course they do, especially violence! None of us are perfect and issues should be tackled without tearing people’s character and nature down! All of humanity has inherent worth, is deserving of basic dignity and that includes men, women, and children.
At this time in history, men are being demeaned, judged, and stripped of their integrity by society’s messages, advertising, and attitudes like never before. What we see right now is just another form of misogyny. In particular, picking on men and it appears to be especially prejudiced and targeting masculine men. For boys, this can be confusing and make some of them wonder what their role is supposed to be as society is socially engineering and redefining everyone’s roles. This video supports men and illustrates what a man should truly believe about himself, strive for, and who they really are in the eyes of God their father, the one who created them perfectly and in His image.
