In this powerful story Lauren Hill speaks of her battle with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a cancerous brain tumor that renders the nervous system function impossible, and primarily affects 100 to 150 children in the U.S. every year. This type of cancer is inoperable, and like most childhood brain tumors the cause is unknown.
This 19 year old is an inspiration to us all! Despite the challenge she’s been given, she has chosen not to let herself be drowned and lost in despair. After learning of how very little time she has left to live, she has opted to make the most of what time she has and is pursuing her dream. She’s driven by a God given purpose and that’s to live her life for the children who suffer the same fate as hers, to bring awareness and hope to them. Lauren teaches us of bravery even in the face of death. She teaches us how the prospect of dying shouldn’t prevent us from spreading our love, living life to it’s fullest, and helping others. If anything it should open our eyes to realizing that we are all given a limited time to live, and that time is a precious gift. We should make the most of that time to be with the ones we cherish and love, and to lend a helping hand to those who need it. Keeping in mind that what we do for our neighbors remains as our legacy even after we are gone.
Lauren has started a campaign to raise awareness and fund research into DIPG, which has already raised $ 500,000. To donate to The Lauren Hill Tribute Foundation, visit layups4lauren.org
